Two weeks have passed us and another NLA Power Ranking is up front! The last Power-Ranking was heavily influenced by games that have already ended after 60 minutes of play. During the past two weeks this has changed to quite the opposite. Almost one third of all games played ended in  an overtime or a shootout. Three NLA teams remain in the CHL and with that there will be three Swiss teams during the quarter-finals to fight for entry into the semi-finals. The Lions will face the Växjö Lakers, Fribourg will try to fight of Vitkovice and Bern will have to face Sparta Prague. The quarter finals will take place at the beginning of December and will again be staged with a home and away game each.… continue reading

The four remaining NLA teams in the CHL have played the first leg of the round of 16 and nothing is sure yet! The Lions have lost in Lugano with a lucky one goal difference, Bern turned the game at home against Jyp and Fribourg tied the first game against Kalpa. Power(play) ranking

Another important factor that can help a team to play much more efficient, is the powerplay. Four teams are currently having a great powerplay, with a goal scored within every fourth chance on the man advantage. We have made the NLA powerplay ranking and there have been a few surprises and rather worrying facts that have emerged out of our research!

Heinz or Huras?

After a few games have been played by Langnau and Fribourg, we can start to compare the two new coaches. Huras who has won both games against Ambri-Piotta this weekend and Heinz Ehlers, who has also had good weekend against Bern with one victory and one defeat. Who has won more points for his team? Tabaluga reloaded

Two teams, two new coaches. Ehlers and Huras are desperate for points and last nights game was the perfect match up to check on each others improvements. In the end, Ehlers and his team were able to take the victory in front of the home crowd and take additional motivation into the next game on Friday against Bern. CHL flyby

After two disappointing years for the Swiss teams in the CHL, there has been a revolution during this years group stages. Six teams (ZSC Lions, EV Zug, Fribourg Gottéron, SC Bern, HC Davos, HC Lugano) have made it past the group stage and are now fighting for survival in the knock out phase, where there will be two games played during each round.
