Have you checked on the latest scores down at the NLB? If not, there are one or two things that stick out right from the beginning by checking the standings. Winterthur, who had its first season within the NLB last year and finished off last, is currently ranked on the second place, behind La Chaux-de-Fonds. It is to early to tell, if this will stay like that over the coming months, but still we weren’t thinking of such an improvement.
But not only Winterthur is surprising us, EVZ Academy has also started of well, even though they are just a farm team! The GCK Lions, Hockey Thurgau and the Ticino Rockets are playing their part as farm teams and are well below the playoff spots and will probably stay there. Will the EVZ Academy continue its surprising start or will they also fall back during the following months?
We think that they will, the roster consists out of a lot of youth players, who get changed out in a number of times by EV Zug. Major changes will influence the team in a negative way and in the end they will probably end up below the 8th rank. Winterthur, who isn’t a direct farm team could work itself into the playoffs this year, but they will probably fall back in the cause of the current season.
