Nico Hischier, 17 years old and on the verge of becoming the next Top draft of the National Hockey League. He is currently playing his first season in North America with the Halifax Moosheads (same QMJHL team as Timo Meier last season) and has already scored 48 points for his team so far. Certain draft rankings are already suggesting him to be among the Top 5 of the overall draft picks. Will Nico Hischier be the best Swiss draft of all time?
He still has some work to do in Canada in order to achieve his goal. Nino Niederreiter, who got drafted on 5th overall position by the Islanders back in 2009, is currently holding the title of being best all time Swiss draft. Nico Hischier has now got the chance to claim this record for his own.
Mckeen’s Hockey TOP 31 Draft is already suggesting him as number one draft for next year!
He currently scores around 1,54 points per game and compared to Timo Meier’s (Drafted 8th overall) time in the QMJHL, he is performing with similar effort. The 17 year old center has an extra ordinary hockey sense and seems to be standing always at the right spot in order to score goals. He is an extremely talented skater and has reasonable stick handling abilities. He shoots on the left side and is able to cut it very precise. Not only is he an outstanding sniper, but also a play maker. This makes him a more complete player than Timo Meier it is. Unlike Meier he is scoring goals at the same amount as he is scoring assists and this makes him very valuable for next year’s NHL entry draft.
It is always difficult to make a prediction of such a young player, but he will for sure be among the TOP 10 of next years draft. The next few months will decide wehter he will be drafted among the TOP 5. If he continues the way he is doing at the moment, we @swisshockeytrolls see the chance of him being drafted among the TOP 3, but this always depends on the scouts of the draft picking teams.
